Comikaze Expo 2014: Plan Changes

With our move in October, it changed our financial situation for the next two months leading up to Comikaze. Unfortunately, this means that we needed to limit our costumes and put some off for another time. Sad sad, but at least we can put a lot of work and attention into what we decided to stick with!

As of right now….we really haven’t done much. I’m hoping that with our next paycheck we can start knocking some stuff off our to-dos. There’s also a potential for a secret costume, but that is solely dependent on who comes with us to comikaze so for now, I’m not adding it to our list.

Comikaze Expo 2014: Erick’s Line Up

My friends have called me the cosplay nazi. Which sounds really bad…but that is caused from my almost obsessive nature to really know a costume down to it’s core and origins. I get a little crazy over the details and finesse of it all. And when choosing to do comic book cosplays as Erick has, there is no better reference than the actual source material. I refused to even begin making plans for his costumes until he picked out the exact variations of the costumes he desired.

Well, he picked them out. And I tracked down the comics they belonged to. I have to admit, one thing I will always love American comics for over Japanese manga is their consistency in the character’s clothing. Just with Erick’s Green Arrow, the first 15 pages of the comic his costume’s variation originates from gives multiple angled views of the costume, demonstrating uniformity. It blows my mind since most Japanese series do not put as much depth and thought into showing off their costumes. These American comics are a cosplayer’s dream when it comes to references.

But enough jibber-jabber. It’s time for Erick’s line up!

Comikaze Expo 2014 : Cosplay Plans & Pending Line Up

So now that wedding stuff is well over, pictures and video have been received, and I’m slowly giving away any non-sentimental wedding leftovers, I’ve slowly been getting to get back into old routines…like planning for conventions!

This Halloween, we will find ourselves once again attending Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles. I love going to that con. It’s just so laid-back for me and last year, it was super fun getting to participate in the costume contest. Perhaps I’ll enter again this year. ;D Anywhoos! I haven’t figured out yet what day I’m doing what, but I’m pretty solid on what I’m doing! I decided I’ll be doing my best to keep track of the progress and plan changes here on the blog!

7 Days to Halloween: Fifties Housewife Costume of Halloween Past

Last year, although my Halloween spirit was well and alive, I didn’t really think of having a costume until it was too late to throw one together. So…I threw one together. And used what I had. I was a 50’s housewife on Halloween. Not terribly original, I know, but a costume none-the-less! ^^;

This post also signifies for myself and everyone else that if you’re Halloween costume is not yet ready, you have one week to get your act together! XD

8 (10) Days to Halloween: Costume Piece Hunting Success!

As mentioned previously, October became an unexpectedly full plate. And because of this, a couples costume Erick and I had agreed to pull off together got pushed off to the side burner and then Erick semi-lost enthusiasm for it. I’ll admit, I was very very bummed about him giving up on it (even though he was trying to be reasonable and managing time and all that) and gave him a pretty hard time about it.

Then on Monday, his passion for the costume was suddenly revived and he swept me away in it! I mean, look at how excited he is, finding the parts he needs at the Goodwill. 🙂 It just makes me even more excited for Saturday when we will *hopefully* have our costumes in order to wear to my mom’s and our friend’s parties.

*does excited dance*

14 Days to Halloween: The Bride Costume of Halloween Past

A fun concoction I threw together somewhat last minute with electrifying results two years ago. It was quite the blast for myself and I wore it again the following year at Comikaze Expo. I think my favorite part of the whole thing is making my actual real hair stand up on end. 😀

I love this costume so that it graces the header of my blog this season. X)
